Volcanoes National Park is a beautiful area in the north of Rwanda that is named after the chain of dormant volcanoes making the Virunga. It is a mountainous landscape comprised of a section of the spectacular Virunga Volcanoes which lie between Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. There are nine volcanoes (six extinct and three live) with the highest peak of Karisimbi towering at an altitude of over 4500 metres

Tracking endangered mountain gorillas through the mysterious intimacy of the rain forest, alive with the calls of 200 species of colorful birds and chattering of the rare golden monkey, is only one of the truly unique experiences in the area.
