8 DAY ADVETURE LAKE NAKURU

Day 1: Explore the City of Nairobi
Begin your Kenyan adventure today as you are met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to the Nairobi Serena Hotel, a spacious city hotel shaded by jacaranda, bougainvillea and acacia trees.

Enjoy the day at leisure as you prepare to head off on safari the following day. Nairobi is full of vibrant, bustling markets, shops and cultural centres. If you have time, visit the Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage, or spend some time at the Karen Blixen Museum, the woman who famously declared she 'had a farm in Africa'.

Return to your hotel in the evening for dinner (at your own account) or arrange to eat out at one of the city's top restaurants.

Days 2-3: Game Drive at Sweetwaters
Leave Nairobi this morning after enjoying a delicious breakfast and head north. You'll pass near Thika and continue through some amazing scenery; rushing mountain streams, endless tea and coffee fields and rolling hills characterize this area of Kenya.

Arrive in Nanyuki in time for lunch and settle into Sweetwaters Tented Camp, a lovely tented camp situated in the Sweetwaters Game Reserve, enjoying spectacular views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya.

In the afternoon you'll head off on an afternoon game drive and enjoy a visit to the nearby Chimp Sanctuary, which houses chimps from the Jane Goodall Institute, before returning to camp at sunset.

The following day you'll get up early for a morning game drive through the reserve, returning mid morning to relax and enjoy time by the pool. After lunch you'll have the opportunity to go on another game drive, returning to camp for another delicious dinner.

Day 4: Travel into the Aberdare Mountains

Mountain Lodge is ringed by a dense rain forest which is home to a variety of animals, including elephant, buffalo, rhino and waterbuck.

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon watching wildlife at the waterhole or in the underground viewing platform, before dinner is served in the early evening.

Day 5: Head for Lake Nakuru
This morning sees an early start as you head north-west for Nyahururu, known to many as Thomson's Falls for its 237 foot cascade of water. From there you'll continue south to Lake Nakuru, one of the biggest lakes in Kenya.

Lake Nakuru is often coloured a shimmering pink by the flamingos that feed on the algae in the water, and its banks are regularly visited by large game, including black rhino.

Once in the park, you'll enjoy a game drive en-route to Lake Nakuru Lodge for lunch. The lodge is situated in the south-east ecological niche of the park with lovely views of the lake and the flamingos.

After lunch you'll enjoy an afternoon game drive and sundowners on the deck.

Days 6-7: Make Your Way into the Mara

Enjoy a short game-drive en-route to a local lodge for lunch before heading out on a full afternoon drive through the reserve. The Masai Mara is known for the annual wildebeest migration which occurs between June and November, but is also prolific in other game, particularly predators.

You'll arrive at Mara Serena Safari Lodge just as the sun sets and enjoy a delicious African boma dinner. The following day, spend your time on morning and afternoon guided game drives through the park.

From here, you'll cross the floor of the vast Rift Valley and then head up the escarpment on your way back to Nairobi. You'll arrive back in the city in the early afternoon, where you'll be dropped off at either a city centre hotel or the airport for your ongoing travel arrangements.
